BCA Chaplain
JOB SUMMARY
The BCA Chaplain will be responsible for cultivating a healthy and challenging environment that facilitates the transformation of students into the image of Christ.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Arts in a related discipline.
- Two years of experience in youth ministry.
- Strength and experience as a communicator of God’s Word.
DESIRED OUTCOMES AND ACTIVITIES
- Facilitate two chapels per week.
- Organize two Spiritual Emphasis Weeks during the academic year.
- Engage in one-on-one discipleship and mentoring as assigned and as opportunities arise.
- Implement a broader discipleship program by leveraging the relationship with college students.
- Coordinate key special events such as Grad Retreat, Grad Trip, and Grad After Party in collaboration with Student Development and BCA staff.
- Provide pastoral care to BCA students both as a matter of course and when specific situations arise.
- Maintain a strong presence in the halls of BCA, developing relationships broadly with a diverse group of students.
- Participate in BCA staff meetings for building relationships.
- Contribute to the larger Student Development team through participation in meetings, through Student Leadership Training times, and by informally encouraging colleagues.
- Meet regularly with BCA RD’s to discuss the overall climate of BCA and the areas of possible growth and improvement.
- Serve on the BCA Discipleship Team.
- Serve as the point person for BCA at Youth Quake and recruit a team of volunteers to serve and care for them that weekend.
- Prepare students for engaging the broader world after they graduate from BCA.
- Envision and execute new ways of calling BCA students to be formed into the image of Christ and live lives of surrender, pursuit, community, service, and mission.
- Execute all of the above within the parameters outlined in Briercrest policies and procedures, particularly the Child Protection Policy.
TEAM RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Director of Student Development through a weekly meeting.
Works in cooperation with the BCA Administration and teaching staff.
Partners with BCA RD’s and serves alongside the larger Student Development team.
